Awesome vid man! I had a great time on that ride, it was a good riding day…. for having snow on the side of the highway. Have you been out on any more rides with that group?March 1, 2013 at 5:11 pm #11950

Looks like someone got bit by the “retro bike bug”…that will be a full garage! Or do you have a storage place for those?
Hope to see you out for a ride with us this year…

HOLY CRAP, viken! Dad must be into bikes as well, then?
That’s crazy…I’m jealous 😉
I think my MT-01 is going to be moving on…time for a change and back to dreaming about the V Strom DL1000…just shopping for the right deal.
The MT-01 will hit Kijiji in late April…once the weather changes, that way I can get the guys with the new bike itch…do all the maintenance, and polish the BEAST up…and off it will go to another nice home.
But I’ve always wanted to have more suspension to be able to go down the gravel roads…not that you can’t with any bike, but more suspension makes the ride nicer…not to mention the more adventure oriented rubber.
I’ll probably buy the new ride before the Yamaha is gone…so I’ll take some transition pics before it’s gone! 😮

Keep us posted as to what you are considering for replacement ride ;DMarch 21, 2013 at 6:26 pm #12022
Well, I’m still waffling on whether or not to sell the BEAST…but I do want to have an adventure touring bike…so if I decide the MT-01 is out of here I will be seriously looking at the V Strom DL1000. Not a lot of them out there right now, but I’m not buying for a month or two…or I could decide to keep the muscle bike & get a more dirt friendly bike, which has me leaning toward a DR-Z400S…but I really think the BEAST is going to be leaving me…it just isn’t practical for what I want, which is a bike that is comfortable for two up riding!
My bike is fun and comfortable for one, but no luggage capability without some kind of custom rack (read ugly home built thingy). I do think the V Strom is the best choice, but ……..??
I’ll keep you posted.

Yeah it’s hard to decided what bike is good and which bike works for “all” your needs !!!
I rode my buddy’s V-Strom 1000….nice bike and he really likes it. He rides two-up all the time ….with no issues !!! A great bike BUT not my cup of tea !!
BUT from what I read (and I have talked to a few fellas too) …if you want to go off-road or travel gravel the V-Strom 650 is the one you want to own !! A little lighter and easier to handle on less than perfect roads ! And if you only will have a passenger now and again…. ?????
My 2 cents !!March 22, 2013 at 4:42 am #12024
I’m waffling a little…I don’t really want to sell my bike…still really like it! Reconsidering doing what you and Gerry have done, getting a second bike to do the adventure thing with…and maybe come up with some other answer to my touring issue…or just deal with the small fuel tank and fuel up everytime I see a gas station. :-\
Wife really isn’t too keen on me getting a new bike this season anyway. Mostly due to us wanting to pay down some debts, not extend our credit for more toys. Sometimes you do have to real in your wants and hold off…bummer. 🙁
